How much does shipping cost?

- For non eyewear orders (cleaner, cloths and cases), shipping is $10.
Do you ship to outside of New Zealand?
No sorry, at this time, we're only able to ship within New Zealand. We hope to add other countries over time.
Do you ship to PO Boxes?
Unfortunately, we are not able to ship to PO boxes.

I’ve had a pink pair of Toni’s for a while now and wear them constantly. I never thought rectangular frames suited me but these completely changed my mind. I was going to order the Toni in another colour but then I noticed the Tate glasses were the same shape, just slightly larger, so I thought I’d give them a try and I’m so glad I did.
The transparent grey is really flattering and they sit beautifully on my face. The frame feels thick, sturdy and high quality, and I absolutely love how they look and feel. They’re also super comfortable so I can easily wear them all day.

For some time, I have been after a pair of reading glasses that look more stylish, sophisticated and professional than many of the others that are currently available. I have been really impressed with my Vital glasses. I often struggle to find a style and colour that suits me and these have been perfect. I have taken to wearing these all the time and they are my preferred glasses of choice. What really impressed me was the great range of styles and colour choices available. On top of this they feel like a well-constructed pair of glasses and have excellent clarity and sharpness. It’s great to have a local New Zealand designed option available in the market.
The team at Vital glasses were fantastic in finding a colour and style that I was happy with. I was due to be heading out of the country for work, and they were able to organise my glasses for me at short notice. The service was second to none and I was very appreciative of the help that Michael and the team provided me with. My only problem now is that I need to decide what my next pair will be!
I wasn’t sure if the matte black would feel too bold on my face, but they’ve totally won me over. The colour is classic and surprisingly flattering, without feeling too harsh. The frame is lightweight and super comfortable, and I love that the arms have a bit of give—they just sit really nicely without pinching or sliding. These have become my go-to pair, and I love having them handy for everyday use.

Who's Behind Vital?
We’re Kay and Michael, married for 35 years and business partners for 20, running Michael Holmes Premium Eyewear in Auckland.
Vital Eyewear was born from a gap we saw in people who didn’t need full prescription lenses but wanted stylish, well-made reading glasses. Most options were cheaply made or lacked design.
With Michael’s optometry expertise and Kay’s experience styling luxury eyewear, we created a collection that brings together premium materials, considered design and contemporary style.

How do I know what strength (magnification) I need?
Most people start with +1.00 to +1.50 for mild reading help. If you’re unsure, try our Strength Guide or take our free online strength test.
If you haven't had a recent eye test, it's best to see an optometrist to check your eye health and determine the correct strength for reading glasses.
What makes Vital readers better than other "off the shelf" reading glasses?
Unlike generic readers, Vital Glasses are designed by an optometrist and eyewear designer with 35+ years experience in the optical industry. Vital reading glasses use premium lenses and durable materials. You’ll get clearer vision, less distortion, a more comfortable fit and they are engineered to last.
Can I try them on before I buy?
We offer a 30-day no-risk trial. If they’re not right, return them for a full refund or exchange, no questions asked.
Just ensure the glasses and all packaging are in the same condition.
What if they don’t fit when they arrive?
Our frames are designed to suit a wide range of face shapes and sizes. Each product page includes a detailed size guide to help you choose the right pair. But if they’re not right when you receive them, simply return your glasses within 30 days for an exchange or refund.
Are these prescription glasses?
No, our glasses are ideal for close-up tasks like reading, knitting, or working on screens. If you need multifocal or distance correction, we recommend speaking with your optometrist.
Do you offer blue light protection?
We intentionally don’t offer blue light protection on our readers.
Our optometrist founder, Michael Holmes, follows guidance from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists, which states there is no evidence that blue light filters reduce eye strain or improve sleep.
The most effective way to rest your eyes is to limit screen time and avoid screens before bed.
How long will they last?
Our glasses are made to last, engineered with high quality materials.
To preserve their quality, avoid placing them on your head and always store them in a hard case. They're built for everyday wear, but like any fine item, they’re not meant to take a fall and they probably won't like being sat or stood on!
Where are Vital Glasses made?
Our readers are designed by kiwis, optometrist Michael Holmes and optical stylist Kay McFarlane, and manufactured in a specialist optical factory using high quality, recycled plastic.
Based in China, our factory is one of the few places with the facilities to support this, and they bring our designs to life from scratch.
