How it started
Vital Eyewear emerged from our own frustration: the inability to find stylish and affordable off-the-shelf reading glasses that met the expectations of clients at our optometry business, Michael Holmes Premium Eyewear.
Over the past 20 years, we met many clients who didn’t need complex corrective lenses. Yet when it came to simpler solutions, the options were disappointing - limited to gaudy designs, poor-quality construction, or both.
Backed by Michael’s extensive optical expertise and Kay’s talent for luxury frame styling and fitting, we knew we could create high-quality frames our clients would actually love to wear.
How our vision came to life
During the 12-week COVID-19 lockdown in 2021, we finally had the time to turn our ideas into sketches. We set clear ambitions: frames that were comfortable, design-led, and contemporary, while also offering a more sustainable choice.
To bring this vision to life, we partnered with an internationally renowned eyewear designer who helped refine our designs and guide us in selecting the best materials and manufacturing processes.
